Our interest in the World Cup got underway in New York last night as Gabriel Magalhaes played the full 90 minutes in Brazil’s 1-1 draw with Morocco.

At the MetLife Stadium, where the final will take place next month, big Gabi lined up alongside PSG’s Marquinhos for Carlo Ancelotti’s side in his first ever World Cup appearance.

The game didn’t start well for the five-time winners as Ismael Saibari dinked over Liverpool’s Alisson to open the scoring for the Moroccans on 21 minutes.

The PSV forward managed to get in between the two centre-backs before completing the move with a composed finish.

But Brazil responded before half-time through Vinicius Jr. The Real Madrid forward cut inside before unleashing a rasping effort into the top corner.

While both sides had chances in the second half, they settled for a point ahead of the next group game.

Gabriel Martinelli was an unused sub for the Selecao, who take on Haiti in their second group game on Saturday, June 20, at Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia.

While big Gabi is our only player to play so far in the finals, that’s about to change as three more Gunners gear up to be involved in the next 24 hours.

Kai geared up for the finals with a goal in the last warm-up game against the USA. The match kicks off in Houston at 6pm UK time.

Last this evening, at midnight, Piero Hincapie’s Ecuador are in action, taking on African side Ivory Coast, who could select ex-Gunner, Nicolas Pepe. The match will take place in Philadelphia.

For those staying up until the early hours, you’ll be able to catch a glimpse of Viktor Gyokeres, as his Sweden take on Tunisia in their opening World Cup game at 3am UK time, in Monterrey, Mexico.
