Martin Zubimendi’s excellent volley against Nottingham Forest is a contender for the Premier League Goal of the Season – and your votes can help him win the award!
Our midfielder cracked home a beautiful goal to scoop the monthly award as well as our club-wide poll back in September, and now he has the chance to win the overall prize to add to his Premier League winner’s medal and cap a fine debut season in England.
Martin’s magic moment came in the 32nd minute of the game against Forest at Emirates Stadium. Noni Madueke floated a corner into the box which was headed clear by Chris Wood to the edge of the D, but Martin was waiting with intent.
With a flash of his right boot, he volleyed it back towards goal and watched it swerve out of the reach of Matz Sels to crash into the net and get his Gunners goal tally up and running in style.
The winners of each Goal of the Month award are contenders for the seasonal prize, so Martin will do battle with Dominik Szoboszlai’s free-kick against us, Emiliano Buendia’s curling shot for Aston Villa against Tottenham, Bournemouth’s Tyler Adams’ long-ranger against Sunderland, Harry Wilson’s outside-of-the-boot strike against Crystal Palace, and his teammate Harrison Reid’s belter against Liverpool.
Dominic Solanke’s scorpion-kick-like effort against Manchester City, Newcastle striker William Osula’s solo effort against Manchester United, Kaoru Mitoma’s volley for Brighton against Tottenham and Taty Castellanos’s looping effort at Newcastle round off the nominations.
You have until midday on Wednesday May 27 to cast your vote, so help Martin add another award to his collection now!
You can also help David Raya win the Save of the Season award for his phenomenal stop against Brighton.
