“This kid, you’ll see him at the World Cup” – Owen Hargreaves tells Arsenal to sign 21-year-old midfielder this summer

Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has urged Arsenal to sign ex-Real Madrid star Nico Paz from Como this summer.

Paz, 21, has established himself as one of the best Serie A players since departing Real Madrid for around £5 million in the summer of 2024. He helped Como remain in the Serie A last season as he guided his side to a 10th-place finish with six goals and nine assists in 35 league games.

So far this term, the seven-cap Argentina international has shown signs of maturity. He has registered 11 goals and six assists in 33 appearances across competitions for Como, who are currently fourth in the league table.

During a recent interaction with TNT Sports, Hargreaves was asked to name a star Arsenal should sign in the upcoming summer transfer window. The former Bayern Munich star replied (h/t Metro):

“There’s a young lad at Como, Nico Paz. There’s an option for him to go back to Real Madrid. This kid, you’ll see him at the World Cup. Mikel Arteta will already know that this boy will be a star and if you don’t ask, you don’t get. A player like that could suit Arsenal.”

Should the left-footed attacking midfielder move to the Gunners this year, he could prove to be an excellent signing. He could provide healthy competition to Eberechi Eze and Martin Odegaard at the north London outfit.

However, signing Paz would prove to be a difficult task for Mikel Arteta’s team this summer. Real Madrid could activate their buy-back clause worth around £8 million to bring the Argentine back to the Estadio Bernabeu side.

Arsenal teenager told to leave club soon

Speaking recently on talkSPORT, presenter Adrian Durham urged Max Dowman to leave Arsenal to further his career with regular minutes elsewhere. He claimed (h/t Metro):

“Max Dowman needs to leave Arsenal as soon as possible. Dowman has seen Myles Lewis-Skelly’s career derailed by Mikel Arteta. He’s also seen another youth team product Ethan Nwaneri used to boost Arteta’s ego. Max Dowman, don’t follow their path.”

Naming two possible destinations for Dowman, he added:

“Forget who your family supports, that’s irrelevant now. Think about your career, go find a stage your talents deserve. Barcelona, Real Madrid, wherever it is. Go find a coach who will get the very best out of you and bring you success in your career.”

Dowman, who turned 16 last December, has contributed one goal and an assist in seven senior games across competitions for the Gunners.
