Centre-backs are set to be near the top of transfer wish-lists this summer, with several of Europe’s elite chasing defensive additions.<\/b><\/p>\n

Some big names could be on the move, and we’ve profiled five central defenders who could dominate the headlines.<\/p>\n

Alessandro Bastoni<\/h5>\n
Inter Milan are considering significant sales this summer to fund a rebuild under Cristian Chivu. Alessandro Bastoni is one of the figures attracting interest, with Barcelona having placed the defender at the top of their priorities.<\/div>\n
Bastoni has forged a reputation as one of Serie A’s premier centre-backs at Inter, where he’s won two Scudetti and been named the division’s Best Defender across the last two seasons.<\/div>\n

The 27-year-old brings balance as a natural left-sided defender and ranks among the top performers across Europe for progressive passes, passes completed and progressive carries.<\/p>\n

Barcelona want the Italian to partner Pau Cubarsi<\/a>but won’t be alone if Bastoni is available.<\/div>\n
Christian Romero<\/h5>\n
Cristian Romero is expected to leave Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, regardless of whether the North Londoners escape relegation.<\/div>\n
A second straight season battling at the bottom end of the Premier League has persuaded Romero that his future lies elsewhere.<\/div>\n

The club captain has not been afraid to take aim at the Spurs board in recent months, branding the lack of investment in January as ‘disgraceful’ as the side battled through injuries.<\/p>\n

La Liga is the Argentine’s preferred destination and each of Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Barcelona have been mentioned as suitors.<\/div>\n
Ibrahima Konate<\/h5>\n
It’s becoming increasingly likely that Ibrahima Konate leaves Liverpool in the summer as the defender’s deal approaches its conclusion. There’s been no news on an extension, with Konate’s contract due to expire in July.<\/div>\n

Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are both monitoring the situation closely, with the former plotting a second raid on the Reds for a free agent in successive summers.<\/p>\n

After Trent Alexander-Arnold’s exit for the Bernabeu last summer, the Liverpool fans will be frustrated to lose another player so easily while still in their prime.<\/p>\n

Lukeba Castle<\/h5>\n

RB Leipzig have churned out a steady production of talent to Europe’s top teams in recent seasons and Castello Lukeba is the latest to pique interest.<\/p>\n

The French defender is on the radar of Premier League teams including Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United, who are all monitoring the progressive left-footed centre-back.<\/div>\n

Lukeba has a release clause of \u20ac80m in his contract at Leipzig but the Germans are willing to negotiate. The 23-year-old will feel he’s ready for a step up as he looks to break into a France set-up stacked with defensive depth.<\/p>\n

Murillo<\/h5>\n
Nottingham Forest face a fight to hold onto Murillo in the summer, even if the club secure their Premier League status for another season.<\/div>\n
