Recent results have seen them lose the Carabao Cup final to Pep Guardiola’s City and that was followed up with a 2-1 loss in the FA Cup to Southampton.

Still in two competitions, though, Arteta and his men will be hoping to add to their trophy cabinet before the campaign’s end.

Read More: The Champions League factor: Why Arsenal are favourites to beat Liverpool to Yan Diomande

Irrespective of their success, this summer is key. Arteta is likely to put pen to paper on a new deal and a number of new incomings are to be expected, too, with outgoings also on the transfer agenda.

Arsenal involved in transfer battle for Villa’s Morgan Rogers

Among those who Arsenal are interested in signing come the summer months is Rogers. Something of a fan favourite at Villa Park, the tricky Englishman has scored 27 goals and notched a further 24 assists since his move.

He arrived from Middlesbrough in February 2024 – and has smashed it ever since, establishing himself as a very exciting and unpredictable talent.

Since, he’s chalked up 13 appearances for England and is expected to be among those on Thomas Tuchel’s plane this summer.

Between now and then, though, he could be on the move. That’s because, according to a report from The Mirrorthe Gunners are not the only side from the Premier League that hold an interest in Morgan Rogers.

Chelsea and Manchester United are also willing to test Villa’s resolve when the transfer window opens for business. The Blues made their interest known last summer, it’s been reported, and could return to the table.

A switch to another English team may is not the forward’s only option though as Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich are also keen admirers.

At the time of writing, The Mirror insist that Emery and co would hold out for a transfer fee north of £80 million for the youngster given his enviable talent and ability to produce on the big stage.

A decent 2026 World Cup campaign for the Three Lions could see that sky rocket above the £100 million mark. Villa selling one of their prized possessions, too, is not off the cards given the financial situation they are in.

What would Rogers’ arrival mean for Gabriel Martinelli or Leandro Trossard?

Although Morgan Rogers can play behind the striker in the No.10 role or on the right flank, Arsenal would be signing him with the intent of him operating off the left – and that’s a position of need for the Gunners.

Sure, Leandro Trossard or Gabriel Martinelli would be viewed as a sufficient back-up to the England international – but Rogers trumps them both and would walk into Arteta’s starting line-up instantly.

Both Trossard and Martinelli have been named in Arsenal’s eight-man chopping block for the summer and it’s likely that at least one will move onto pastures new in the summer.

Either one leaving would free up funds and space for the incomings left winger – in this case Morgan Rogers. Trossard’s Emirates deal has just one year remaining on it and Martinelli has struggled for form of late.

Which player would be out the door in favour of the Villa talisman is yet to be seen but one thing is for sure: Arsenal will need all the pulling power in the world to convince him to move to north London.

At A Glance: Arsenal are among those interested in Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers.
